EDU 2022 Projects

Project 1

My first project was to create a web page to introduce myself as a future teacher.  I had to search the web for graphics, quotes, and a background for my page.  This took a while because I had to make sure that the graphics and backgrounds that I used were not copyrighted or had to be paid for.  I also created links for people to e-mail me, access my resume, view my hot list, visit the EIU homepage, and also to l earn a little more about me.  I created this web page in a program called Netscape Composer, and loaded it to the server through another program called WinSCP.

Project 2

My second project was to create a personal resume so prospective employers would be able to easily access it.  I did this by first visiting the course calendar page of my EDU 2022 class and obtaining the sample resume that was available to us.  I created my resume in Microsoft Word by following the format of the sample resume.  After saving my resume in Microsoft Word, I then had to save it again as a pdf file.  After that I created a link to it on my index page.  It was then loaded to the server through WinSCP just as my index page was.

Project 3

My third project was posting a resources/hot list page.  I did this by first creating a delicious account.  The delicious account allows people to save (or bookmark) their favorite websites.  After book marking websites, users tag the bookmarks with helpful titles that have to do with the content the website has to offer.  After creating a delicious account, I created a link to it on my index page, and then loaded it to the server using WinSCP.

Project 4
For my fourth project, I had to look over many different teacher web pages.  After discovering one that I thought was appropriate I wrote a review of that particular teacher's website, and then posted that review on the server.

Project 5

For my fifth project, I created a personal page.  This page includes a little bit background information about me, along with things that I like to do.  Also on this page I created a slide show with the program Photostory 3 for windows.  The slide show has pictures of me and also plays one of my favorite songs.

Project 6
For my sixth project I had to select a curriculum theme, and the theme I chose was about polar bears.  After selecting the theme I had to come up with an essential question that fit the theme.   After carefully researching polar bears, I provided a bulleted list of rationale statements that explained why polar bears are so important to Artic life.  When I was finished researching my topic, I created a webpage to go along with it.  My essential question titled the page, and was follwed by a bulleted list of rationale statements.  At the end of the page I did an evaluation of a website that was related to my essential question.  The evaluation consisted of: Accuracy and Authority, Content Relevance, Currency and Coverage, Design and Navigation, as well as Additional Resources.  After evaluating the website I had to provide a link to the website that I used.

Project 7
For my seventh project I used inspiration software to create a flow chart about my essential question.  After creating the flow chart, I then saved it and inserted it into an HTML document so it could be loaded to the server.

Project 8

For my eighth project,  I had to create a graph using Microsoft Excel graphing wizard.  After creating the graphs I saved them and then created a link to them on my projects page.  The graphs I created were related to my essential question about polar bears.

Project 9

For project nine I had to find a smartboard activity for my essential question, which was about polar bears.  I decided to pick an activity that had to do with global warming, since global warming is the main factor in causing the polar bears to become extinct.   The page focuses on many activities that  can be associated with helping children understand  how to stop global warming and the importance of global warming.

Project 10

For project ten I had to evaluate a WebQuest that was closely related to my curriculum theme (polar bears).  I used the  Illinois
content standards for technology and ISTE standards to evaluate the site.  After evaluating the site with this
evaluation form  I turned in a hard copy to Mrs. Barford along with notes explaining my ratings for the site.

I then linked the URL of the related WebQuest to my curriculum theme page as well as to my projects page.

Project 11
For project eleven my partner and I used Audacity software, to create a podcast explaining the importance and extent of our  chosen curriculum themes.  We added music and sound to the podcast as well.   I then linked it at the beginning of my curriculum theme page, under the essential question title.

Happy Computing!

Project 12
For project twelve I created a Power Point on Online Predators.  I then linked it to my projects page.
